Data trails
Network installation, 1920x1080 pixels, 2016
Data Trails was born from reading press articles on the sudden apparition of the “Lake of Gafsa”, in the South-West of Tunisia, published on different online medias. The comments and testimonies range from the “miraculous” to the disenchanted : groundwater pollution, impact of the phosphate industry shutting down water pumping, etc. A constantly active and performative process redistributes the words according to patterns, these follow one another with a slowness inherent to monitor display, which contradicts the immediacy of the information flux and the craze for instantly translating a fact into a mythical tale.
